A new annual report on the state of the world's plants and animals shows a third of all species catalogued are now threatened with extinction.
This year, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List includes a Madagascan rodent, a tree frog from Panama, and a spray toad from Tanzania all listed as "extinct in the wild."
Thirteen-hundred species of dragonflies and seven freshwater snails from China also joined the threatened list.
Australia is listed as one of the worst developed countries on the list, with 800 animal and plant species at risk of extinction.
